Supporting women* seeking ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order

* The Triratna Buddhist movement has a long, rich history of offering women-only practice spaces. At the same time, we welcome participation from a diversity of gender identities, including trans women and those who identify as non-binary. We ask all participants to be open to this broader definition of a women-centered space. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.

What is Alokasetu?

Alokasetu is the virtual hub for women’s ordination training activities for the Triratna Buddhist Community in the US and Canada. Our network spans across the continent, providing retreats and supportive resources for spiritual growth and deepening friendships within our community.

We offer Going for Refuge (GFR) retreats twice a year, one each in the Eastern and Western regions. Our programs are designed to explore a ‘mandala of practice’ through ritual, discussion, meditation, working together, spiritual friendship, and silence.
