Retreat Themes

Our primary Ordination Training (TFO) Retreats are offered twice a year, one each in the Eastern and Western regions. They are residential, usually with a hybrid option, and typically are 10-12 days long. It is a full-immersion experience, enabling us to explore the theme in depth, and includes some silent days in which to reflect on what has been discussed. It is an opportunity to experience living and working closely together as a community, and going beyond our ‘comfort zones’.

Current Themes:

❖ System of Practice | Five Stages of the Spiritual Life

❖ The Mythic Context

❖ Living Ethically

❖ Transcendental Principle

❖ Vision of the Order

❖ Eight Guidelines

❖ The Bodhisattva Path | The Bodhisattva Ideal

❖ Spiritual Friendship

❖ Going for Refuge

These retreats create a special depth borne out of the commitment of the people who come on them. On most retreats, community life and discussion groups are a central part of the program, helping mitras to get to know the order members on the team, as well as other practitioners with whom they will one day be in the order.

We ask that you come prepared by reading the suggested material beforehand and bringing to each discussion group any topics or questions you would like to explore with others.

In addition to these long retreats, we also offer a handful of online day or weekend events throughout the year.
