Retreat Themes
Our primary GFR Retreats are offered twice a year, one each in the Eastern and Western regions. They are residential, usually with a hybrid option, and typically last 10-12 days. It is a full-immersion experience. It enables us to explore the theme in depth and includes some silent days for reflection on what has been discussed. It is an opportunity to experience living and working closely together as a community and to go beyond our ‘comfort zones’.
Current Themes:
❖ Eight Guidelines
❖ Ethics / Living Ethically
❖ Going for Refuge
❖ Mythic Context
❖ Spiritual Friendship
❖ System of Practice | Five Stages of the Spiritual Life
❖ The Bodhisattva Path | The Bodhisattva Ideal
❖ Transcendental Principle
❖ Vision of the Order
These retreats create a special depth born of the commitment of the people who attend. On most retreats, community life and discussion groups are central to the program, helping mitras get to know the order members on the team, as well as other practitioners with whom they will one day be in the order.
We ask that you come prepared by reading the suggested material beforehand and bringing any topics or questions you would like to explore with others to each discussion group.
In addition to these long retreats, we offer a handful of online day or weekend events throughout the year.
